Sowetan, SANEF, MISA-SA, IAJ , FXI, and PMSA will be commemorating October 19th - also known as Black Wednesday, when several media organisations were banned on October 19 1977. This was a  huge setback for freedom of expression in the then apartheid SA.

We have come a long way since then and will be celebrating some of our democratic institutions on this day.
