Rhodes University's Sol Plaatje Institute for Media Leadership invites managers, editors and senior journalists from national, regional and community newspapers to  participate in a five-day seminar titled the Essentials of Managing Newspaper Convergence.

The seminar is primarily intended for editors and senior editorial staff responsible for developing and implementing new media strategies for their publications. However, it will also benefit production staff and journalists who increasingly have to think differently about the content they produce and the platforms for which they produce. The seminar is designed to accommodate participants who are grappling with the questions of how new technologies will shape the future of the industry, but does not assume advancedtechnical knowledge.

  • The 8th World Young Reader Conference and Expo

    • 08h00, Friday
      24th July
      2009

Here's how newspapers can ensure a future audience: create post-Internet print content combined with smart digital approaches, directly engage young people and those who influence their media loyalties, while at the same time avoid alienating older readers.

That is the "Total Youth Think" approach that is being adopted by newspapers in many countries, and it will be the subject of a major session at the 8th World Young Reader Conference and Expo, to be held in Prague, Czech Republic, from 27 to 30 September next.

Full details of the conference can be found at http://www.wan-press.org/prague2009

The event is of the first to be conducted under the merger of the World Association of Newspapers and IFRA. WAN and IFRA have come together to create the World Association of Newspapers and News Publishers.
