Sanlam Community Press – 2008 Awards

This year the award ceremony was held in Durban at Elangeni Hotel. On the same weekend as the 4th Annual Grassroots Press Summit by the Association of Independent Publishers (AIP) which is the biggest umbrella body for independent and grassroots newspaper in Southern Africa. Also responsible for these events is the Forum of Community Journalist (FCJ) which became an independent body in 2004. Prior to that, the organisation served as a sub-committee of the Community Press Association (CPA).  This year saw 150 community newspapers taking part with a record 1400 entries from editors, journalists and photographers.
